Adam Johnson Returns To Training

Sunderland winger returns to training after suspension is lifted.

Adam Johnson returned to training this week as the club lift the suspension put in place due to his arrest on suspicion of sexual activity with a 15 year old girl.

The club issued the following statement:

'The club has discussed the current position in detail with both the PFA (ProfessionalFootballers Association) and Adam’s representatives.

'In line with those discussions we recognise that the player is entitled to re-commencehis duties with the club while the legal process continues. He will therefore return to training.

'The club’s own investigation cannot continue until the conclusion of the legal process.

'Sunderland AFC will make no further comment on the matter due to the ongoing police investigation.'

On Tuesday Johnson's bail was extended by five weeks, now lasting until April 23rd.

Johnson will now be contention for Saturday's visit to West Ham with Dick Advocaat set to take his managerial bow for The Black Cats.

One this is certain, having Adam Johnson available will be a massive boost to Sunderland's chances for the rest of the season and Dick Advocaat will be keen to utilise the £10m man
